How to decide the damping factor to smoothen a raw EOG signal?

I want to smooth the EOG data (rat) in bins of 10 minutes using using MS Excel. In order to get a proper smoothing with loosing any information of the signals, which value ( 0 to 1 range) should I use for damping factor?

You should learn to use something more appropriate. MATLAB, python, R would all do the task much better.
