In the part module, you can partition the main part into two parts and assign different sections with different materials property for each part.

Are the two materials randomly distributed over the entire plate ?

You need to divide your entire part into some smaller parts using partitioning techniques. Then you can assign different materials to those partitions.

As I mentioned before, you can simply partition your part into some smaller ones and then assign different materials to them. You can use the sketch planar partition method and just draw those white rectangles on a plane and partition your cell. Then you can easily assign different materials to those partitions in Properties Module.
