I would like to work with Nostoc punctiforme, which is filamentous, and try to assess its growth by cell counting using a Neubauer chamber. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible to use this method even if it is a filamentous cyanobacterium. I have read some work, that without detailing much, it is used prior shacked, but I don't know what are the necessary conditions to achieve it without damaging the cells. Thanks!
