Hi.
I want to choose transfer function manually. for example I want to choose Tanh or Sigmoid function for input and Linear function for out put layer.
I dont know how can I do this by matlab. or even is it possible to do this in matlab. if it is not pussible what is the other software?
I would be very appreciate if you can help me.
There is a set of functions you can use for Matlab neural networks, such as 'tansig ' or ' logsig'

tansig is a neural transfer function. Transfer functions calculate a layer’s output from its net input.
A = tansig(N,FP)
takes N and optional function parameters:
And returns A, the S-by-Q matrix of N’s elements squashed into [-1 1].
Code to créate the function

Assign this transfer function to layer i of a network.
net.layers{i}.transferFcn = 'tansig';

Also should be posible to use a custom function as far as i know. You should be able to define a function and pass it as a parameter when defining the network.

Hi Maryam, MATLAB has vast amount of very well explanatory tools in its toolbox examples packages. As others have suggested, if you have MATLAB Neural Network Toolbox installed, please type (doc ann) from your command window, click on Neural Network Toolbox on the left panel of your documentation windows.
