Based on this article https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.orglett.2c01501?urlappend=%3Fref%3DPDF&jav=VoR&rel=cite-as I wanted to synthesize the desired molecule from the final product of the paper. But I've been struggling to do so.
if you have any solution for that just please share it with me.
The need to cleave off the quinoline strikes me as a huge roadblock. Maybe if you had a 5-OH (or a precursor) you could oxidize to the quinone imine and hydrolyze that, but you'd first have to determine if the photochemical step works with a 5-substituent. There's a lot of work to be done with model compounds before you try it on the desired substrate.
Thank you Dr. Demers. I just wanted to know if it's possible or not. I don't want to synthesize it in real life. I'm working on a MD simulation. There actually another molecule that I am interested in, which bears 8-amino-5-methoxyquinoline (MQ). I could find a reaction for cleaving off (MQ) that but I'm not sure about the compatibility.
