I am examining dielectric constants of polymer films by LCR meter. As capacitance is directly proportional to area of electrodes and inversely proportional to thickness. Hence in order to have a comparison, thickness and area has to be same. So how to prepare samples for dielectric measurements in order to have accurate results?
Capacitance is extrinsic property, but dielectric constant is intrinsic property. The latter does not depend on the sample dimension. You already take the effect of area and thickness. Follow the following paper for the relevant formulae:

Thanks for your insights. I was wondering that if thickness of the ceramic pellets are different, in order to draw a comparison among different compositions of same material, I guess that it will be wise to keep electrode(smaller one) area same. Please correct me if I am wrong.
