I have two questionnaires about leaders communication with almost identical content but for two groups of subjects: one is for leaders self-rating (For example: "I support two-way communication") ; the other is for member self-rating ("My leader supports two-way communication). Leaders and members in one team are matched. I am not sure what is the best way to combine these information on SPSS for regression. Please help! Thank you very much.
You have collected data for two separate groups and hence you will get results accordingly.Why u want to group now and what purpose will be served.?
You have collected data on two variables: Leaders self rating and members self rating. I agree with professor Kumar Roy because integrating the two sets would be out of place and serves no particular statistical purpose.Therefore, report the existing variance as two different but complementary findings.

Yes, you can combine the two sets of data into one single data file (e.g., SPSS). All you need is to create one variable (e.g., a variable called "status" where 1= leader and 2 = member). In that way, it is easier to compare leaders' scores with that of those members (i.e., use "status" as the independent variable). After the data analysis, you can conclude whether there is any significant difference between the leaders and members in terms of their perception of communication.
