I am interested in doing a research with regards to skin microbiome in chronic wounds. I would be performing routine cultures as culture independent methods are unaffordable. How should the skin swabs be collected?Should the skin be cleaned with saline prior to collection or should the swabs be collected without cleaning the skin?
