I am doing project on Characterization of municipal solid waste of a city. How to collect and prepare sample from municipal solid waste , to do Bomb Calorimeter test.
Municipal waste is not a homogeneous material. It will be almost impossible to compose a representative sample. The best you can do is collect samples from some local sources such as schools, residences, restaurants, instutions and compare them. In addition, at present there are many separation and recycling initiatives that render the usefulness of raw waste composition questionable. I have made a few experiments that may give you a clue on how to proceed. Here they are.
The prospect of municipal waste landfill diversion depends on geographical location"

I have also studied the heating value of waste and came to the conclusion that it is similar to that of sugar cane bagasse. Unfortunately, that publication is written in Portuguese.
