I am extracting phenolic compounds from barley rootlets. I extracted free phenolics and then followed the process of alkaline hydrolysis for bound phenolic extraction. I would like to study the functionality of the residue obtained after the phenolic extract in baking.

However, the bound phenolic extraction has left the residue with strong odor.

Can someone suggest me how to dry the residue and the method to get rid of the smell?

Thanks in advance.
