Does anyone have good recommendations on how to clean a clogged MS-ESI needle? Our ESI needles get clogged with salts and/or proteins of biological matrices very rapidly after not so many measurements and we have never managed to clean them so that they could be utilized again. I have read about cleaning with methanol, isopropanol or formic acid in a beaker in an ultrasonic bath. How exactly do you put the needle into the beaker (with the nebulizer in horizontal or vertical position) and how long does it take?
