I am doing work on Shimadzu LC solution software but still unable to find s/n ratio of peak. Please suggest a method. Please tell me how to calculate it manually
I am using LAb Solution but software looks the same
The noise in this system is obtained with the ASTM method as follows.
Reference
For details on the ASTM method for calculating noise, refer to"ASTM" at "3.1.1 Noise
Calculation Methods" in LabSolutions Data Acquisition & Processing Theory Guide (Help in main window). However, the time interval to be used with the ASTM method here is set in the [S/N Detail Settings] sub-window. If [Automatically calculate the baseline outside detected peaks] is selected, chromatogram data is automatically divided into 0.5 minute intervals and calculated.
will u please tell me how to calculate signal to noise ratio manually as in my software noise is measured in ASTM and i am unable to calculate s/n ratio
Well first, you have to measure the hight of the peak of interest (with software provided tools or with a ruler for instance) and then you measure the average baseline noise hight or, better yet, measure the baseline noise hight somewhere in the vicinity of your peak of interest. The ratio of these two values (peak hight / noise hight) gives you the corresponding S/N. Hope this helps.
You can use ruler to measur the length of your peak which is the signal and measure the zig zag length right and left the peak then apply the following relatioship: 5S/N. The answer will be s/n ratio
