Can somebody explains how to collects the statics of number of citation per year on a specific keyword ? I want to know number of citations per year on "Metasurfaces." It is perhaps one of the most emerging area of research in last few years.

You may try Google Scholar Citation tools (it works for me) or similar Microsoft Academic Search. See, for example: https://people.cs.uct.ac.za/~mkuttel/VISProjects2015/VISSanbyTODDYANG/research.html
In pubmed you can export the search results by year.

The easiest and probably most reliable way is to use the Web of Science database from Thomson Scientific. They have a good search mask that also accepts wildcard characters such as *.
@Thomas walther, This work for me. But, perhaps it does not includes many article which are available on google scholar.

Did you get the right answer to your question? If so, i will be gratefull if you could refer me to the right data base. I searched it on pubmed but results are wrong while on web of science just number of publications for each year are available.
