I modeled an experimental test of a beam explained in a journal article. I have a load displacement graph from my model. How do I check it against the graph in the paper? Or in other words, how do I get the correct points of the load-displacement curve from the paper to correctly check and validate my model? Will there not be discrepancies if I am only checking the ultimate loads without comparing the graphs?

It is important to validate simulation results with experimental results to confirm accuracy.
To get the the data points from the graph in experimental paper, you can either use the software "GetData Graph Digitizer or OiginPro.

Using ABAQUS, it is essential to plot the internal and kinetic energy diagrams to evaluate the results' accuracy. To this end, you should define a history output in the Module Step and request All Energy Totals (ALLEN). Please note that you should set your history output on the whole domain subjected to the deformation. After finishing the analysis, you can plot internal and kinetic energy as a function of time in Module Visualisation (open output databases/history outputs/kinetic energy or internal energy). If the kinetic energy is negligible in comparison to the internal energy, the results are valid. If not, you should increase the analysis time to decrease the detrimental effects of kinetic energy.
