In an BLDC Motor or a Brushed DC Motor, how to calculate the the Continuous Torque and the Peak Torque?
For how much time the Peak Torque can be applied on the Motor because the peak torque on the Motor will be applicable only during its overloaded condition.
peak torque depend on peak power for how much duration and it depends on the cooling capacity and quality of lamination material of your motor.
But I want to know How can we calculate both of the Torques for a Motor????
first fixed the peak power and operation duty cycle...torque calculation is similar...t=p/omega
Ok now let me ask you another thing. In designing BLDC Motors for 3-phase star connected, what is the armature resistance calculation. In some Books, two phase resistances are added and in some technical papers only a single phase resistance is used. But to my knowledge, in a trapezoidal shaped BLDC Motor, two phase resistances will be added and it should be taken into account while calculation as the two phases will be in ON state at at time. Please do clarify.
for 120 deg inverter operation of bldc control , 2 phase resistance will come in series...the effect will be seen from DC -link side. regarding peak torque you have know to your peak power. in normal case any machine designed always based on BASE rating, like BASE VOLTAGE, BASE SPEED AND BASE POWER with a Particular BASE DUTY CYCLE OF MACHINE. follow the nameplate rating of conventional induction machine. Any peak power operation for any particular duty cycle introduce later depending on motor thermal design like cooling efficiency, lamination material..motor design never starts with peak power.
Peak Torque is always 1.6 to 2 times of the Rated Torque in Brushed DC or BLDC Motors. Even practically also it can be justified.
