Dear all friends,

Well to be quite honest, I need natural frequencies (f1 & f2) of soil layer to calculate alpha and beta coefficients of Rayleigh damping. I have a soil deposit of 0.9m height, the mass density of 1800kg/m^3, poisson ration of 0.3 and modulus of elasticity of 40MPa. As a consequence, based on the f1=Vs/4H equation the first natural frequency is equal to 25.68Hz.

I want to model a soil deposit with above properties, however I do not know what dimensions I should choose for my transverse and longitudinal lengths to account for infinite lateral extent and that dimensions do not affect the natural frequencies. Also, I do not know what boundary conditions I should choose at base and lateral boundaries of my geometry. Should I fix base of my model in three directions and constrain my lateral boundaries in vertical (height of soil) direction?

Please guide me to overcome that problems.

I look forward to hear a positive response from you
