I am trying to model the coal gasification on fluidized bed. For this I need to define the chemical reaction of coal devolatilization in Fluent.
Could you please help me how we can determine the stoichiometric coefficient of coal thermal decomposition products by having Ultimate and proximate analysis of coal?

Volatile stoichiometry is calculated by below equation.
CxHyOz + (x+ 0.25y-0.5z)*(O2 + 3.76 N2) xCO2 + 0.5yH20 + 3.76*(x+ 0.25y-0.5z)N2
where CxHyOz represent empirical chemical formulation for volatiles. You can follow the same procedure and write the equation for volatile+fixed carbon combustion for calculating the overall stoichiometry.
A stoichiometric amount or stoichiometric ratio of a reagent is the optimum amount or ratio where, assuming that the reaction proceeds to completion:
1) All of the reagents is consumed
2) There is no deficiency of the reagent
3) There is no excess of the reagent.
Carbon combines with oxygen to form carbon-dioxide and heat.
C+ O2 -> CO2
1 C +32/12 O -> 44/12 CO2
1 kg Carbon +2.67 kg Oxygen > 3.67 kg Carbon Dioxide
Can I use the coal calculator in fluent to find the BIOMASS volatile mixture? I mean, since that is coal calculator, can it be used for BIOMASS too?
