I am going to conduct a perspective study on the title of "Gut microbiome in pregnant women with iron deficiency".

Objectives

  • to examine the association between gut microbiome and nutritional-related iron deficiency in third trimester pregnant women.
  • to investigate dietary patterns of Thai pregnant women and the association with hematological parameter (Serum ferritin and hemoglobin).
  • The prior studies just only reported the percentage of Gut microbiome types. So we think we are going to determine sample size needed to detect a difference between two proportions. I am not sure if this is appropriate.

When it comes to a cohort study, the sample calculated is a big number. Our concerns are the cost of gut microbiome laboratory and analysis ,time limitation and a small number of eligible participants.

The sample size calculation was not reported in the previous similar studies.

This is some example of the previous studies.
