I have collected the data of birds at 17 points (each point being at the distance of 500 meters) for 5 days, and other variables. Now how can I come up with a single number for each species, which will represent my survey effort of 5 days? Common birds have sighting on all five days while some rare birds were seen just one day.
I am trying to correlate bird diversity and abundance with different parameters of water quality(pH, DO, conductivity ,free O2.. ) I have surveyed for five days in same area now how can I come with the exact number for each species. Will performing the mean for each species will be significance or is there a better solution.

Bird species that you collected are all aquatic birds or not?
You can take the maximum individuals you recorded in either of 5 days survey as the maximum number of individuals in the transect OR you can the average of 5 days as the number of individuals within the transects
Thanks Hem Bahadur Katuwal for suggestion, I was religiously searching what could be the best possible options. First one came as taking the maximum number of individual as you suggested and second, was taking weighted average as suggested in the below mentioned paper, which could be more scientific regrading my work, I need your suggestion.
