I would like to calculate membrane potential based on Goldman-Hodgkin-Katz Equation. The problem is KCI is replaced with CsCI in bath solution and CsOH in pipette solution. How do I calculate it? Ignore potassium ions? Thanks!
I guess you use CsCl to block K channels. If you know the permeabilities, in/out concentration of all ions and If Cs does not permeate at all, you may simply equate to 0
permeability to Cs in GHK. Otherwise you better measure it.
BTW, I'd advice to do both - calculation and weasurement in current-clamp mode. If you detect a big difference, you will a have an idea about how leaky is your membrane.
