I have serially diluted mice fecal sample and plated -1, -3, -5, -7 dilutions in the selective medium (E.coli). In -5, -7 dilutions, no growth were seen. But in -3 and -1 dilution, I can observe the numerous colonies looked like patches.
In this regard, I need to compare the colonies between two groups. Could you please help me to suggest for calculating the number of colonies from the plate

I think your 2-log steps are too great, except for approximately finding the correct range of dilutions. From your initial results, I'd plate at -3, -3.5, -4, -4.5 and -5. The -3 and -5 dilutions should confirm your current result (i.e. too many and too few colonies), and then you have three chances of getting an appropriate number on the plates.
