Soaking in hot water or scratching the seeds will help break down the seed coat and improve germination. Chemical treatment is possible, but needs laboratory safety precautions :)
Citrullus colocynthis dormancy depends on time and conditions of fruit maturations. Recently we published a paper showed that seeds collected in March failed to germinate with all treatments. However, seeds of other collection that matured at warmer time germinated without any treatments to very high levels in both light and dark in a wide range of incubation temperatures.
