Hey guys,

For the fluid dynamics of a bioreactor, shaker bioreactor for example, which way do you think is better to analyze the local shear stress using CFD tool?

As you know, Ansys fluent software can output strian rate of a fluid field. Does this mean we can calculate the shear stress by multiplying liquid phase molecular viscosity by strain rate using custom field functions?

How do you think about the wall shear stress reported by the Ansys Fluent software? Some people said the wall shear stress calculated by Fluent software is untrustable because of the turbulent model inaccuacy on boundary layer. However, as we all know, the wall shear stress is not neglectable because large velocity gradient will be produced by no-slip condition. So, I am wondering how to analyze the local shear stress of a bioreactor using the Ansys Fluent tool.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Likuan
