I did a survey using google forms. I imported data from excel to SPSS. I wanted to find frequencies for some MCQs. There are more than one answer for my MCQs. But the output shows clusters of responses. I want to get frequency of each responses clearly. Can anyone help me?

you should use multiple response tab under analyze tab of SPSS to get frequency of each response.

I want to know how many people prefer yoga, how many prefer meditation etc.. But SPSS shows the result like this...

you have 3 variables right? in your variable view you have to name gender, age group and preference as your variables with type numeric. At column values set 1 and 2 as male and female, 1,2, and 3, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50 and 1,2 and 3 yoga, meditation and nothing.
in data view, enter your data 1 as male or 20-30 or yoga. same procedure for the rest data. I think the problem is how you enter the data.
i agree with Hazura, it is very important to know how we have entered data. If one individual has reported two or three preferences and then enter them in seperate columns. Then apply multiple response by selecting all preference columns.

Hi; you mention open ended questions in addition to MCQs? It might be worth using qualitative analysis software for these, such as NVivo. Just save the open ended responses in a Word file and then you can import them into the software for thematic analysis i.e. picking out the most frequently mentioned words and phrases from the responses.
