I want to analyse the integrated power system (having solar as one of the source of power ) using transient simulation software (PSCAD). Is it worth to use the same or should i use different software ?
If you wish to simulate the growth of oscillations as in time domain waveforms then PSCAD/EMTDC can help adequately.
But since you wish to do small-signal stability, you may need stuff like eigenvalue based analysis and design, or participation vectors - stuff for which you may need other software.
I suggest you first read agood textbook on the topic, such as "Small-Signal Stability, Control and Dynamic performance of Powe Systems" - Gibbard et al. Do NOT blindly use a softeware package
I suggest kindly you to tackle the problem in practical insights in production grade-software, which are provided into the significance and application of various analytical techniques for signal stability in integrated power system. Either way you should look up for the relevant concepts such as control systems and eigen-analysis background;
the small-signal modelling of generators, FACTS Devices, and the power system;
Please look up the following textbook that might help you
