It depends, which software you are using. Excel does not provide a simple solution for this, except glueing two figures manually together.
Other programs are much more powerful, several commercial software packages are available for this. We do this usually in R and I can post an example if you wish. As an alternative, you may also give one of the free programs SciDAVis or LabPlot a try.

(1) Glueing Excel pictures together is a last resort method, not very reliable for publications. Are you sure that the picture above was created with Excel?
