Ansys 19.2 R2 and 2020 R1 versions of Additive Manufacturing Workbench is convenient for powder-based Additive Manufacturing processing. However, in this workbench, there is a machine parameter setting dialogue box and this parameter setting dialogue box has not included the laser power parameter. Without laser power, the powder material will not melt. So, how to add laser power in the machine parameter setting?

This approach is straight forward means that you need to set correctly other process parameters and then the laser power comes from the melt temperature of the selected material. So, the latent heat and heat capacity are in combination and related to the time you can find the laser power if you need it. This is a macro analysis that has to do with geometry of the part.

Setting all the parameters according to the machine printing specification, but the simulation result is not perfect. Also, it is a big question of how the powder melts without a laser power setting.
