I am making a Dynamic Temp-Disp Explicit simulation of 2D orthogonal metal cutting operation in abaqus. What is the depth of cut of the above simulation. The unit I have assumed for the simulation is 'meter'. Also , how do I simulate for different depth of cuts ?

The workpiece thickness is the depth of cut in orthogonal cutting process. As it is seen in the attached figure, the workpiece should be extruded. This is an orthogonal cutting process simulated the same as the experimental work in 3 dimensions. In this way, you can simulate the orthogonal cutting with different depth of cuts, accurately.

2D simulation (orthogonal cutting) is used when depth of cut is constant equal to workpiece thickness. Accordingly, you can find the effect of cutting speed and feed variations. When you want to find the effect of different depth of cut, semi-orthogonal cutting process should be simulated like the previous comment. Other methods are not so accurate for example multiplying the obtained cutting force to the size of depth of cut to adapt cutting force with different depth of cut. Anyway, simulation of semi-orthogonal is somehow like 2D simulation (according the time and preparation process) and is not different and difficult.
Mohammad Lotfi well defined depth cut, can you tell me how to calculate the cutting force after getting the final results of cutting force, because I get 104 values of only one simulation process, do I have to chose it randomly or I have to take average of all 104 values?
