Also if u can throw bit more light into bio energy say a comparison of bio enery generation and charcoal making including processes involved, that would be really really helpful!!
There are many ways to make charcoal, some more sustainable than others. You need to look at a whole system approach and use the raw syngas to heat the process, or clean it up and use the clean syngas to heat the kiln and generate electrical power and heat. Look at the Johannes Lehmann Nature article for example. I've done a lot of work in this area.

Best way is an energy integrated process optimsied for charcoal production.
As Dr Peacocke said, there are several ways and some are more sustainable than others, since different processes will have different yields and different energy consumptions; it is hard to say which is more sustainable without looking at the overall process or if possible, doing an LCA.
For a comparison of the different technologies to harness biomass energy, I would recommend an introductory book, such as "Thermochemical processing of biomass" by Robert C. Brown.
