What is the effects of size of nano-particles on oxidation reduction reactions (ORR) and what is the best size I mean lowest size at which catalyst is more active for ORR?
you can use XRD to calculate the mean crystal size by scherrer equation, and use AFM to calculate the particle size.....
We have carried out reduction reaction at our lab by nanocatasts- for 10 to 12 nm we got better results rather than 5 to 6 nm.
It depends on mainly surface area as area increases catalytic property increases.
@ Suryabala Jagadale how you have calculated size of your catalyst (nano-particle) (as you said 10-12 nm), by XRD or TEM particle size distribution?
I know rate of reaction is directly propositional to the surface area. In my case my nano-particle size as I have calculated by TEM and XRD is about less than 2 nm but onset-potential is about 8.1 V vs RHE. can you tell me any proper method to calculate exact size of nano-particles? I will be thankful
