Do you think academicians / researchers with higher RG score will have impact on their academic careers in universities e.g. promotion, pay increment, more time to conduct research, travel to more places for conferences, easily head-hunted by other universities etc.?
Do you think academicians / researchers without an account in ResearchGate or score lower in RG become less competitive with others that score higher in RG score?
I don't think that RG Score has a significant role in career/research growth. It is only an indicator how we publish our researches and interact among peers.
I would tend to agree with Sudev. What I've found matters more is how many people follow you because that model is the same as used with Facebook, twitter and Linkedin. When you can say, "I'm followed by x number of scientists, etc from y number of countries around the world," that has a clear and easy to visualize impact on someone.
Right now I have over 180 from over 19 countries. My goal is over 200 followers, from over 20 countries because that sounds even better...
