I am trying to simulate the parabolic support structure in ABAQUS using gravity loading. Everytime i try to run it, it shows the following message:
'16 elements are distorted. Either the isoparametric angles are out of the suggested limits or the triangular or tetrahedral quality measure is bad. The elements have been identified in element set WarnElemDistorted.'
and the warning message of 'excessive distortion of certain elements.'
I have tried to use enhanced hourglass control, distortion control as 0.1 and every other possible condition of mesh element type but problem is still diverging.
Can anybody who has already worked on it help me with that?

Check the mesh quality before running the simulation (verify mesh: Mesh --> verify). Usually already at this stage Abaqus indicates poor elements.
Sometimes the partition of the part can reduce the geometry complexity and thus improving the meshing process.
Often some (Abaqus internally created) nodes defining the geometry are the source of distorted elements. By ignoring these nodes you can improve the mesh quality significant. For doing so, go to Tools --> Virtual Topology --> Ignore Entities.

Try reducing initial increment size. You can solve a simple problem of gravity loading to check that everything related to modelling is okay. Find the location of excessive distortion and refine the mesh size there.
I have reduced the mesh size there and I have tried with mapped meshing too but still problem is not resolved. Is there any other way of arriving at the solution?
If you have used the damage evolution in your simulation then you also include damage stabilization in all the failure modes.

Check your element type - since you apply hourglass control, you probably use 1st-order reduced integration elements.
If this is a standard analysis, switch to second order and see whether results change.

Some time it is related to Damping parameters of material, specially Beta coefficient.
But at first just refine the mesh size and reduce the dt ( i mean time increment in step)
