We are going to islotate RNA from patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms. How to inactivate the virus potentially present in the blood? We do not have equipment dedicated to work with viruses in our lab, inactivation must to be done at the hospital, and then, safe material will be transfered to the lab. As doctors are not familiar with laboratory practice the procedure should be as easy as possible. I was thinking about was using Ficoll, then just add Trizol which kill virus but they do not have centrifuge, and working with Ficol is not so easy. Any other ideas?
