Dear Sir, thanks much for exposing it over here. It is a serious crime now a days and cannot be expected from the journal like Wiley. Legal action should be taken against such elements. We can also approach to the editorial board member (Dr. Bhupinder Singh Khatkar, GJUS&T, Hisar) of the journal to pursue in the matter strongly. The paper itself justified that the Chinese have always been the copycat masters.

I saw both articles. The second article is inspired by the first article. Sometimes student researchers try to imitate the great researchers. They take their search as a skeleton and begin to write paragraph by paragraph but without the idea of stealing the work. May be that's your case.

Dear Abderahmane, this is sheer case of plagiarism. Here is not the question of great author or little author. This is the mockery with academic. Great professor of great University are doing this act. Do you observe what they have done. They simply change the name of drying commodity and replace the original one with another name. Everything is kept same. Such people are deceiving the society. Without conducting any experiment they are trying to give fake results, thus they are responsible for academic corruption. Such people are liable to take stricter action by our civilized society. They are simply plundering the hard earned literature by the worthy researchers.

One researcher give their hard work to do the experimentation and then analyse the data and after that made a paper accordance to journal requirements and on the other hand someone just copy the data and results and publish it somewhere as his work then what will come in the mind of a original researcher. Thieves can't survive no longer on research gate (RG). This is a place for worthy researchers only. The rogue has to run from this site.

Still three thieves are existing on RG, they also have to be run from here. The researchers community is asked to raise their voice against these culprits who are derogating this Nobel profession. They are reaping benefits from the works of others. If we the teachers will do such acts then who will save this education system. So I make an appeal to all worthy researchers to condemn such researchers so that in future good research becomes a possibility.

My answer was based based on the idea that a true researcher can never do such a thing. Can be a student who does not know the laws of publication. But now I see the real problem. I can not understand why? what is the reason? for an article more his CV, he spots his scientific career. for a score in RG. WHY? This gesture touches directly in the heart. They have the opportunity to work with you. WHY they did not do that? a simple email, a very small email and ......

In life there is a lot of problem / constraint of good people and bad. Please remain a great researcher, remain a great author. You have the right to be angry but finally you are a noble researcher and do not try to create problems because you are a man who solves the problem. Please be in your high level and do not look down.

I ask our research and teaching community what course of action you will suggest to routine offenders who always steal the data of others and publish the paper. Here question is not of one paper only, but it is their habit and profession to plagiarise the other work. In upcoming discussion I am going to give more proof against Fahim Ullah, Min Kang, Mansoor Khan Khattak to show you that they are cheater.

One of the author Fahim Ullha has confessed plagiarism and he has apologized for their actions. He is saying that all the plagiarised paper they are withdrawing from the respective journals.

It's a good sign for future. I request our research community to stop giving any further comments till they withdraw all their plagiarised papers.

I am also thankful to all you worthy researchers for raising your voice which

compel the offenders to mend their ways.

I would like to give some time to the offenders so that they can change themselves and can rectify their misdeeds. If they will not withdraw the plagiarised papers from respective journals then again I will raise this issue with you people.

Fahim Ullah, Min Kang and Mansoor Khan Khattak has also plagiarised our one of the paper published in international journal of green energy. They published the plagiarised paper in Desalination journal. It's a shocking matter that such a reputed journal publishing paper so blindly.

The said paper is purely a copy of our research paper titled ‘Experimental investigation of a solar water distillation-cum-drying unit’ by Himanshu Manchanda & Mahesh Kumar (DOI: 10.1080/15435075.2016.1261706) published in International Journal of Green Energy, 2017, 14:4, 385-394.

I have read both papers. Both papers are same. It is Shame on such authors who never think about the reputation of Reputed Journals and their post, and Institute where they are working. It is highly derogatory and shame on the authors doing such kind of activities. This is the case of purely Plagiarism.

DESALINATION JOURNAL RETRACTED THE PLAGIARISED PAPER

Due to our continuous efforts the Desalination journal verified that Fahim Ullah, Mansoor Khan Khattak, and Min Kang published a plagiarised paper titled “Performance analysis of solar water distillation cum drying unit with the assessment of Flat Plate Solar Collector’’ (DOI: 10.1016/j.desal.2018.03.017). The said paper is purely a copy of our research paper titled ‘Experimental investigation of a solar water distillation-cum-drying unit’ by Himanshu Manchanda & Mahesh Kumar (DOI: 10.1080/15435075.2016.1261706) published in International Journal of Green Energy, 2017, 14:4, 385-394.

Now the plagiarised paper has been retracted. The handling Editor has felt sorry and apologized for the same.

It's a matter of grave concern that people are publishing plagiarised paper very easily in reputed journal.

But today I would like to give thank to research gate that they have run a superb platform which is very helpful to the present researchers.

The authors Fahim Ullah and Min Kang mailed me and conveyed that they are in the process of withdrawing their plagiarized paper from Wiley publications too.

Very painful to knowing another plagiarism case. These people don't have any morality level. If it so, then it will not be wrong to say that the rest of their publication shall be copied from others worthy researchers. I know, mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them. But here the case is different. These people have been involved in big blunders since long time which is unforgivable and deserving strict possible actions against their doings. These actions can range from reprimands to suspensions of services. The respective organizations should follow the legislative act and annual assessment of individual researchers to rate their work required to earn the credentials.

Yes dear sansaniwal, you rightly said. I am fully agreed with your view point. We are in the process to take the effective and corrective actions against the offenders.

This article has been retracted at the request of corresponding author as he was told that it plagiarized the paper titled ‘Experimental investigation of a solar water distillation-cum-drying unit’ by Himanshu Manchanda & Mahesh Kumar (DOI: 10.1080/15435075.2016.1261706) published in International Journal of Green Energy, 2017, 14:4, 385-394. On comparison of the papers, it appeared that there had been plagiarism.

The paper was also submitted to a different journal at the same time by the first author. The corresponding author therefore asked for the paper to be retracted which has been agreed by the Editor-in-Chief and Handling Editor of the paper.

I would like to give my perceptions on the question How plagiarism can be curbed?.

To be frank, it is impossible to put a fullstop for plagiarism (not willful frauds) through legal procedures and policies by publishers or editorial members.  If you look at past three hundred year history of mankind we can find traces for such activities across the globe. Hence, we don’t need to worry about the lowly minds. However, it is our duty to ensure that future generation (new researchers) must be free from such clutches during the course of research.

 If you think deeply you cannot deny the fact that plagiarism may exist from the day one of documented science.  You may call it as my speculation but there is a possibility due to human nature. I personally belief, it exist due to greed for name, fame, respect, power and probably money.  Some acts are exposed with proper evidence at distant time point and some may remain as mystery.

The progression of human civilization always lies on certain ethical and  moral values rather than external law or policies. First, ethical/moral changes occurs and then laws or policies propels such idea to greater extent for sustained results or improvements. If you observe the world carefully, all sort of changes (thoughts) stems and nurtured within  individuals; then transferred to the society. Hence, our efforts to stop (probably) or reduce (significantly) plagiarism must be a multi-prong system with consideration of individual (mainly) and social factors.   

It is not possible to imagine one journal for one scientific field to control plagiarism as well as other similar activities.  Hence, it will be too difficult to screen every article submitted in every corner of the world. If we say so, it is like we need to have one police for one citizen in every country. Yet, our society (as a whole) didn’t reach that much madness.

It is not advisable to have one database for all article. If some article is rejected due to technical limitations, another individual whoever possess the infrastructure may steal the idea and complete the work easily. Hence, one database is like one God one religion lunatic approach.

The solution is, If you consider all the researchers as one group and others as another group we may represent less than one percent of world population. Further, if we consider according to the area of research we will get roughly 1000-5000 active researchers in a given field. Hence, it is not a needle in haystack to find such low minds sooner or later.

If any one within the 5000 researcher found as guilty (for plagiarism), the other 4999 researchers must expel him/her out of the scientific world. Further, the previous works or published material has to be verified without mercy to find out whether it is plagiarism or fraud .  Most importantly, legal actions (just not retraction of paper) must be taken through local or international law suits in both cases. The research group must be aware of such lowly personalities from their predecessors so that he/she cannot enter into the chain at any time point.

If you look at previous centuries, most of the scientist or researchers did wonderful work out of passion. The mode of quest is based on passion not as profession. If we imagine science or research as mere profession, then we are giving space for desire to earn name, fame and money. Hence, the very basic concept of passion has to be restored in the heart of naive researchers. Further, inculcation of ethic and moral codes while early phase of research experience will certainly shape the younger minds.

If science is devoid of emotion, then you cannot stop plagiarism. If we consider the idea of science as passion (devotion with emotion) than the younger individual or mind never enter into such vicious cycle made of greed. Hence, the scientific community must shape the younger mind’s perception on science or research through ethical and moral codes.  According to the words of J K we need to “educate the educators”. Hence, the responsibility lies on the shoulders of supervisors, guides and mentors. They need to remind the need of ethic and moral value during official as well as personal discussion with naive researchers.

Some strict rules should be formulated against plagiarism and the same should be implemented in real by each country.

I think If he have cited your work would be good for him...He have already used another plant He can just write we designed our experiment according to mahesh Kumar et al etc etc and we want to see the results in comparison with this this etc ...If he directly copied is not but I think you can use someone ideas with different approaches ...For example : you will find hundreds of article with the same title :De Novo transcriptome assembly of any of the plant....The methodology of all the papers are same just the approach is different....Some one has done for SSRs, some for SNPS some for secondary metabolites..
