30 January 2013 15 8K Report

There is a fairly large body of literature addressing the prevalence of simultaneous medical and psychological conditions and/or symptoms. Are medical issues typically assessed by mental health clinicians? Are mental health issues routinely assessed by medical professionals? I am interested in whether these assessments occur routinely, as during the intake process or office visit, or if the patient must specifically mention the comorbid condition for it to be addressed.
