A table I saw (Source: National Sleep Foundation) gives age-wise sleep needed per day:

Newborns (0-2 months): 12-18 hours per day

Infants (3 to 11 months): 14 to 15 hours per day

Toddlers (1-3 years): 12-14 hours per day

Preschoolers (3-5 years): 11-13 hours per day

School-age children (5-10 years): 10-11 hours per day

Teens (10-17): 8.5-9.25 hours per day

Adults: 7-9 hours per day
