Assume the TLC is 10,000/ microliter (range 6-14) and the Lymphocyte and monocyte percentage (65 +5) as there is relative higher lymphocytosis at this stage of infant's life. The PBMC expected may be as high as 7 million/ ml. However usually the yields are lower and the common dictum is that from 1 ml of adult blood one gets up to a million cells. Hence you may get only about 2 -3 million cells per ml of a two month old infant.
