I have three Factors i.e pH, C and N concentration.I want to ask that how many experimental runs I will found in central composite design on response surface methodology using Design Expert Software? And what will be the alpha value for three factors?
The number of experimental run you will have is 20 experimental runs which include the following
8 factorial design
6 axial design
6 centre points (this is optional as you can decide to make your centre points to b 3, 4, 5 or 6)
The axial value will be 1.682 which is obtained from the equation below:
Axial value = 2^(k/2); where k is the number of factors.

I will agree with Babatunde Olawoye. compiled a very good notes with clear explanation on CCD which will be very much helpful for you. As mentioned, you will get 20 experimental runs to perform. If you don't have a facility to perform the tests as per the design, you can go with BBD. BBD will give you 15 experimental runs for further details check the attached file.
