For example research, collaboration, discussion, content loading, or assessment. I am developing a course that will train teachers in blended learning skills.
Collaboration through tools such as Wikis, and discussion through blogging are ways I have utilized online tools to enhance the courses I teach. I also occasionally do short on-line assessments to check student understanding of readings before a class session so that I can go into the class ready to correct misconceptions/gaps in understanding so that the class can move to a deeper/richer level of discussion.
I haven't, although I have used them in paper form. I can see using this in a blended format, though, to increase student accountability within the context of group assignments and discussions. I envision setting it up in a survey format that allows for ratings with comments to support those ratings. Are there pre-existing tools that do this? (Now I think I may have to do a search.)
I would love to know what your search yields! I have a creative thought to utilize Google doc's which I will share here. Are you familiar with Socratic circles? Basically you split your class into two groups; have an inner circle discussing the subject and an outer circle evaluating the engagement of the content and quality of the dialogue, (provide a rubric for expectations.) Well, on Google doc's the inner circle can dialogue in different color font and the outer circle can use the comment box function. :)
