The number of neurons, astrocyte and microglia during extraction and isolation from mice brain varies every time depending on the protocol being used and kits. Since you'll be using a standard Dissociation Kit, the number of cells isolated should be more compared to other traditional methods used in our lab.

I use the following protocol for hippocampal neurons isolation.

Ref: Isolation and Culture of Hippocampal Neurons from Prenatal Mice

I get around 50,000-70,000 pure viable cells initially which becomes confluent after 3 days of culture.
