The imminent departure of the UK from the European Union is often talked about as either a 'generational change' or even irreversible. In reality there will be no barrier to the UK reapplying for membership even after departure and this is quite likely.

The younger generation were far more enthusiastic for Europe than the old and they are now becoming more politically active. They are Britain's political future not the elderly.
