How long can a serum be stored at room temperature (15-25 C) so that the enzyme activity is intact? The enzymes of concern are AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, amylase etc..
It all depends on the environment it is kept, other wise if the enzymes are kept in lyophilized from at -20C they are stable for sufficiently long period.
First off, room temperature is a very vague term and you may find stability variability depending on the actual storage temperature. In addition, freezing may be a better way of preserving activity for SOME enzyme and under well defined conditions, but not necessarily all enzymes withstand freezing. You should perform at least basic stability studies to assess enzyme activity after storage at different controlled temperatures (including -20/-70) over time.
