I guess you start from a paper the exact recipe they have used and see your growth. then decide how you can improve it. but it all depends upon you.. and in my experience the perfect growth recipe will vary lab to lab...
The best way to learn is to find someone who already made 2D monolayers successfully by CVD techniques. Learning from a person is much quickly and at the meantime read some references from the publications.
