Our lab mistakenly stored homogenized tissue samples in Trizol at -30 for an extended period of time (over a year). Should we toss these samples or should they be moved to -80? We don't plan on using them in the near future but want to keep the samples if they are still good. Thank you in advance.

So sad to hear about it..!
Take a few samples out and check for the RNA quality. If they seem to have a good 260/280 and 260/230 values, I would store them in -80C
But making cDNA from all the samples would be much better rather than storing the TRIzol samples in -80C
I have kept samples in TRIzol for few months in -80C, but never kept them for years.
However, I personally do not like to store samples in TRIzol, rather I would store samples in RNA-later.
