I am developing a sucrose preference assay as an additional measure of the effectiveness of ketamine as an antidepressant when administered at sub-anesthetic doses in several mouse models of depression.

1. I am unsure as to how many days to measure sucrose / water consumption after ketamine administration. Does anybody have an idea of how long the effect probably lasts and is therefore worth measuring?

2. I am also uncertain of how often to measure consumption during the day. Some studies report daily measurements, whereas others measure multiple times during the day, even up to every two hours.

3. Any other advice regarding sucrose preference / ketamine for depression experiments is more than welcome.

Many thanks!
