It is said that kabasura kudineer a product of Indian traditional medicine siddha/ayurveda has some beneficial effects against covid 19 infection. I would like to know more about this.
Siddha medicine is one of the oldest Indian systems of medicine. And it is most commonly practiced in India. Siddha (Kabasura kudineer choornam) is widely prescribed for the management and prevention of swine flu. But this herb doesn’t try to treat Covid 19 infection yet. Experiment should be done to avoid side effects and this may need long time. This article may help you:
Anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and antibacterial study of kabasura kudineer choornam. international journal of current advanced research · 2018
In Siddha physiology, 'Kaba' or 'Kabam' represents one of the three subtle physiological principles existing in our body (Vatham, Pitham, Kabam), which need to be maintained in equilibrium for physical and mental well-being and an imbalance will cause diseases. Derangement of 'Kabam' generally correlates with signs and symptoms of respiratory track.
'Sura' or 'Suram' means fever.
'Kudineer' represents a therapeutic recipe in the form of decoction.
In view of the above, we can understand the meaning of 'Kaba Sura Kudineer', i.e., a decoction indicated for the management of fever due to the derangement of 'Kabam'.
Different texts describe different signs and symptoms for 'Kaba Suram'. In some texts it is associated with inreased risk for mortality.
To suggest a medicine for the current covid-19 pandemic in a single voice, the Siddha doctors community promotes 'Kaba Sura Kudineer' for the management of the signs and symptoms of covid-19.
The medicine was in practice for more than 1000 years and it contains herbal ingredients only. Hence no need to worry about its safety.
We have to establish it's efficacy and effectiveness in covid-19 and whether the recipe possesses any anti-viral property against SarsCoV-2.

Since the recipe is recently promoted as a prophylaxis for COVID-19, for prophylaxis, it may be taken once in a day for three days, if required it may be taken after a gap of 3-4 days. No need to take it continuously.
Kabasura kudineer based on herbal decotion may or may not work. But in practical availability of diverse ingredient herbs and transparency in production of Kabasura kudineer is highly questionable and 99% you have chance to get a product what is not in Lable claim. There are 15 herbs mentioned in it most of them are wild collection and there is absolutely no traceability in their collection. So what is in paper may not be in the commercial product. But taking up a product with a belief that it is Kabasura guarantee you a placebo effect. So let's drink Kabasura and raise the sunken confidence in the general public. My advise is when you go for herbs make your own collection of herbs or grow it in your backyard rather than banking on OTC choorana that doesn't have any traceability and transparency in production. GOI if really concerned about Indian Medicine in need to emphasize on transparency and traceability of sourcing the herbs, ensuring Lable claim. Otherwise it will remain only as placebo than as a medicine
In Siddha medical texts, the medicine is indicated for fever, and not as a prophylaxis for fever.
In the recent decades, it is promoted as a preventive measure for viral fevers. For prophylaxis, it may be taken once in a day for three days, if required it may be taken after a gap of 3-4 days. No need to take it continuously.
In Siddha medicine, paediatric medicines are totally different from adults medicines. So my personal view is the medicine is not advisable for children below 12.
As far as I know, there has not been data characterized by strong evidence on the effectiveness of kabasura kudineer. Demonstration of efficacy or non-efficacy will require studies involving the collection of a very large sample. Best regards.
Christy Rosaline Nirmal It might be useful in strengthen your immune system (I am not sure), but it won't prevent coronavirus infection. Wear mask, keep social distancing, watch hands...etc are the best bet to avoid the virus infection for now.

How frequently and how many days kabhasurana kudineer to be taken, side effects? If someone can explain it will be useful.
Kabasura Kudineer is reasonably beneficial in prevention of fever in the times of Covid 19. I have promoted its use in my family members in Bengaluru and Chennai. Except in one case of frontline worker, i.e. Police Department, it has helped all of us to prevent from getting Covid 19 infection.
