Definitely, Bacterial cultural sensitivity/resistance test including MIC (Minimum Inhibition Concentration and MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration ) profile is essentially required. Empirical treatment must be avoided. Though tedious, it can be done with fungal causing species as well. Mixed infections (mixed etiology) should also be considered.
Expose them as little as possible to potential pathogenic multi-resistant bacteria.
