Dopamine depletion during PD is affecting several tissues outside CNS in PD-like animal models, but is it possible to map the main tissues affected by the pathology outside brain in both patients and animal models?
Deficiency of dopamine in synthetic nerves causes the abnormal imaging of MIBG myocardial scintigraphy. Numerous symptoms accompanied by Parkinson disease are attributable to the dysfunction of peripheral nerves due to the loss of dopamine-dependent neurons. Intriguingly, Lewy body accumulation is not pathologically observed except for the central brain tissue.
