I am designing an evaluation instrument and read about internal consistency (cronbach's alpha).

I am going to conduct the survey on three different universities. An estimated of 900 people will be my respondents, which means 300 each. However, when using cronbach's alpha in SPSS, should i input all the data of the 900 respondents and perform reliability analysis? Is my method right? Or should i perform three reliability analysis All my respondents are from different universities, which means that accuracy can't be met (as far as what i know) from the 900 people since they are from different places with different experiences.

On other situation:

Should i first conduct reliability analysis on one university with 300 people surveyed? When results are computed and questionnaire validated and ran reliability analysis, should i then conduct a pilot test with the other two universities?
