...I recently completed doctoral programme in same field, how I can get a better opportunity to do post doc in abroad. My field of specialisation is tissue culture, genetic transformation and molecular assays for crop plants.
there are three main ways of doing what you want to do:
- Talk to your current supervisor, chances are he knows people working in your field of interest and they might me able to offer you a possition.
- Look for open positions online; there are a number of places were postdoc positions are advertise, including Researchgate, LinkedIn, postdocjobs, etc.
- Check out groups are doing what you would like to do and contact them, even if they don't have an open position they might hire you if you are the right fit for the lab.
Thanks for your suggetions, I am trying to find out vacant positions on LinkedIn and through other means also, that's why I posted on RG as well. Anyway your suggestions are definitely for concern. Thanks.
Europe has more opportunities in Plant Biotech (esp. Germany, Swiss, France, Italy) as compared to USA. Canada is good too. In east, Korea, Japan etc. have opportunities too.
Further, DO NOT highlight tissue- culture as expertise, as it is getting old and obsolete, not so useful, and hence, highlight your expertise in transgenics, if possible with CRISPR/Cas9 etc. and other data analysis schemes such as statistics and advanced -omics sciences etc.
Also, make sure to publish in International peer-reviewed journals, as many as possible and also as a "first/ lead" author.Without good publications, it is getting tougher to find a Postdoc position in USA and Europe.
